The signer must personally appear before the notary, and the document must meet applicable South Carolina notarial requirements.

South Carolina generally requires a current federal- or state-issued identification document containing a photograph, signature and physical description. A current passport is also acceptable even if it does not contain a physical description. Identification may also be established through qualifying credible witnesses in circumstances permitted by South Carolina law. 

Do not sign the document in advance if the notarial act requires the notary to witness the signature.

 South Carolina law allows a maximum fee of $5 for each qualifying notarial act or signature, depending on the type of notarization. Mobile appointments also include a separate travel/service fee based on location, timing and appointment requirements. 

The travel fee is quoted and agreed to before the notary travels to the appointment.

There are no surprise travel charges after the appointment begins.
